Isylene Sunit is a senior at Mt. Eden High School. Throughout her years of being a part of NCME, she learned the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and began to realize how little awareness for mental health was found inside and outside of school. Her emotionally disconnected background fuels her to be a mental health advocate and she wishes to provide a safe space for people who have also struggled internally. Her own form of self-care takes shape in journaling. She wants to build courage in others to seek out any needed support and also become advocates for their own mental health. Now, she strives to learn more of other’s mental health journeys and how to better support others.

Emily Tran is a senior at Mt. Eden High School. Being one of the founding members of NCME, she has discovered how important it is to put your mental health first and prioritize your overall well-being. Having a background in which working hard and overtime is sought after, she has never seen how to value mental health until recently. On campus, she hopes to inspire other students to take care of themselves and welcome them into a community where they can find the support they need. She hopes she can teach people that sometimes it just takes one person to lift another person’s weight off their shoulders.

Ruchita Verma is passionate about making the world a better place by advocating for mental health, especially through artistry. She also aspires to explore the realms of public policy and psychology. Along with developing their online platform, The Community of Peace and Love, in their freshman year, Ruchita dances over 20 hours each week. She can be found assisting for Embody Dance Conference, a dance convention aiming to create safer and inclusive dance spaces. To create safe spaces, help people know their worth, and guide people to the the light within them, Ruchita aspires to use vulnerability as a medium for connection, sharing, and creating a world filled with more love and compassion.
Pabi Constantino's journey with mental health is not anything out of the ordinary, but she wanted to be a voice to BIPOC communities especially for people who are struggling with social support for mental health. Being a Filipino-American, it came quick to Pabi but not a surprise to see friends around her whose cultures did not honor mental health and saw how their guardians or parents treated them as a result, whether it was on purpose or inadvertently. She comes from a place of struggle and writes poems and songs reflecting that struggle. Through various forms of art, her passion for advocacy is voiced especially her love for people like her who are limited by their cultures to honor mental health.
NAMI California Mount Eden has a partnership with NAMI, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI provides resources and support to NCME through various mediums digitally and in person. Through providing ideas to improve the school climate and end the stigma around mental health in our community, NAMI provides great assistance with their tools and resources by funding Mount Eden High School's NAMI On Campus High School Club.
Welcome! You are so loved and are a gift to this world! You are so worthy of this life and all it has to offer :)
